Billing & Licences
DentaMile connect offers four different licensing models, tailored to the specific work area and the required connections:
Creator
A Creator can connect exclusively to one Designer or Producer. Creator accounts cannot be created independently - they must be invited by a Designer or Producer. The inviting party covers the licensing costs.
Features: Case creation, file transfer, creation of patient records, uploads of scan data and other case data via file transfer, job description, delegation of design and printing jobs to a single connected partner, chat function for clarifying job details.
Creator Plus
Creator Plus offers unlimited connections to Designers and Producers. This license is suitable for users who wish to collaborate flexibly with multiple partners.
Features: Case creation, file transfer, creation of patient records, uploads of scan data and other case data via file transfer, order description, delegation of design and print orders to various connected partners in the DentaMile connect network, chat function for order clarification.
Designer
For the simple and secure creation of dental 3D objects using specialized CAD modules for printing within a validated workflow, e.g., with your own (validated) printing system or for delegation to a validated printing service provider.
The Designer license enables you to offer dental 3D design as a service.
Designer licenses allow up to 15 Creator connections. Additionally, unlimited connections to Creator Plus users and Producers are possible.
Features: Case creation, file transfer, creation of patient records, uploads of scan data and other case data via file transfer, order description, delegation of design and print orders to various connected partners in the DentaMile connect network, chat function for order clarification.
Additional features: Scan correction tools, design modules for creating dental 3D objects. (CAD modules) Hereinafter referred to as DentaMile Workflows, as of 05/2026: Bleaching Tray Workflow, Bite Tray Workflow.
Enables the simple creation of the aforementioned dental objects based on an intraoral scan and, through smart and guided user navigation and validated workflows, facilitates the easy design of high-quality, precise, and safe 3D objects.
Producer
For the simple and secure creation of dental 3D objects using specialized CAD modules and the preparation of data sets for printing (CAM modules) within a validated workflow on your own validated DMG printing system or for delegation to a validated printing service provider.
The Producer license enables you to offer dental 3D design as well as 3D printing of validated medical devices as a service and provides supporting functions for this purpose. (Multi-File Printing)
Producer licenses also allow up to 15 Creator connections. In addition, unlimited connections to Creators, Creator Plus users, and Designers are possible.
Features: Case creation, file transfer, creation of patient records, uploads of scan data and other case data via file transfer, order description, delegation of design and print orders to various connected partners in the DentaMile connect network, chat function for order clarification.
Additional features: Scan correction tools, design modules for creating dental 3D objects. (CAD modules) Hereinafter referred to as DentaMile Workflows, as of 05/2026: Bleaching Tray Workflow, Bite Tray Workflow.
Direct connection to 3D printers from the DentaMile portfolio, as well as multi-file printing.
Print job preparation (CAM process) is deeply integrated into the system and is automatically generated in the background when the print job is transferred to the 3D printer. Nesting and slicing are validated and automated within the workflow.
At present, licences cannot be managed directly within DentaMile connect. Renewals, upgrades or cancellations must be handled exclusively through DMG’s sales or support teams.
The simplest approach is for the organisation to contact their designated DMG sales representative directly. They can arrange all licence adjustments and, if necessary, advise on which model best suits your current requirements.
Security & Data Protection
Within DentaMile connect, all users in an organization have access to all cases created within that organization - regardless of which user created them. This includes both patient cases and file transfers.
Support and development do not have access to your organization’s content. As part of error analysis, development can only adjust technical parameters in the database that are outside the CAD component. Neither support nor development has access to designs, scans, or other medical data.
When a case is delegated to external partners, all patient data remains anonymized. Delegation partners do not see any personal information, but they do have access to:
- all transferred files (e.g., scans, models, documents, including file names)
- the ability to create CAD designs based on the provided scans
This ensures that data protection is fully maintained while collaboration runs smoothly from a technical standpoint.
Technical Issues
In many cases, the problem lies with the connection between DentaMile connect and the printer. Please check the following:
- Is the printer switched on and fully booted up?
- Is the printer connected to the network (LAN or Wi-Fi)
- Is the printer displayed correctly in DentaMile connect
- Is the printer firmware up to date
- Is there sufficient storage space available on the printer
If the printer still does not respond, restart it and try sending the print job again.
Further information can be found here: Connecting a 3D printer
This often happens with printers connected via Wi-Fi. Causes:
- Unstable Wi-Fi connection
- Router’s power-saving mode
- Printer goes into standby mode
- Network switch during printing
Solution: If possible, connect the printer via an Ethernet cable or boost the Wi-Fi signal.
In rare cases, there may be a hardware or firmware issue. Please check:
- Power supply
- Cable connections
- Display response
- Contact the manufacturer's support team
In DentaMile connect, you will find an overview of your connected 3D printers in the header menu. There, you can not only add new devices but also view the current connection status. A red dot indicates that the printer is not connected to DentaMile connect. A green dot means that the printer is in IDLE status and can be accessed by the software.
